She packed her bags, filled them with indescribable bliss, and left, following her heart and her mind towards her dreams. Born in Timóteo, Minas Gerais, Karen Porfiro sought to be a fashion model. A challenge that was no obstacle for her, because she struggled to achieve her goals with determination, confidence, serenity and especially faith.
Karen draws attention wherever she goes. Her beautiful, voluminous and impressive African hairstyle is one of the examples of what makes her so authentic. Her beautiful green eyes and dazzling smile make her look even more perfect. She is the pure Brazilian essence, and refuses to fit any stereotype.
In 2010, she started making her history, with a lot of charisma and sympathy, acting as an actress in a hugely successful play in Timóteo and surrounding areas.
But her dreams went above and beyond that, and she became a Miss. In 2012, she won her first title as Miss Timóteo and ran for”Miss Terra Brasil” in Divinópolis, ranking among the first places of the contest.
In 2014, Karen won one the most desired title among many beauties: the Miss Minas Gerais contest. Her “non-standard” look stirred controversy, but Karen ensures: “without my hairstyle, I would be no one, I would not be myself.” And that is how she questioned the standards of beauty in a multi-ethnic country.
Miss Minas Gerais has been keeping her hair curly for three years. Before deciding to embrace the beauty of her roots, she usedseveral products on her hair, including straightnening ones. Today, she does not want to hear about any permanent change. “I like how versatile my look can be. If I want my hair straight, I’ll blowdry it and it’s done, there’s nothing definitive. My hair is so because of my personality. No one can change that”, she concludes.
Karen represented her state in the Miss Brazil contest. Despite not winning, she keeps all her dreams alive and continues to invest in her career as a fashion model and actress. We bet that with all her beauty and charisma, more success will continue to come her way. And she deserves it!
